Everyone knows the news about Coach Shaw’s sad departure from Aynor High School; however, we are expecting the rise of one of our own, Mr. Brown, to become our new principal. We spoke with him and asked him some of the questions some of the AHS students had for him. And, we are happy to say that AHS will be left in good hands.
Where did you go to high school and college? I graduated in 1989 from AHS, and I graduated in 1993 from Clemson University with a B.S. degree in Agricultural Education. I also have a masters and an educational specialist degree in educational administration from the University of South Carolina. Recently, I completed all coursework for my Ph.D in Educational Administration, and I am hoping to finish my dissertation soon.
Have you ever taught school? If so what subject(s)? I was the agriculture teacher at AHS from 1993-1996.
What inspired you to go into education and become a principal? My mother was in education for thirty-two years and served as a wonderful role model. My family also farms in the Cool Springs and Aynor areas. Basically, I was able to capture two of my loves by becoming an agriculture teacher.
What are some things you enjoy doing in your spare time? Lately, I have been spending quality time studying and finishing my coursework. I also love working in my yard.
Are you married; do you have any children? Yes, I am married to Mrs. Sabrina Brown, a third grade teacher at Aynor Elementary School, and we have a 13- year- old daughter Victoria Diana (Tori), who is a seventh grade student at Aynor Middle School.
In what area do you live? I live between Aynor and Conway in the Cedar Grove community off of Hwy 378.
What’s some other information that we may not know about you but you would like to tell us? It is a very exciting opportunity for me to be able to come back to AHS as the principal. I consider this an honor, privilege, and my duty to assist AHS in becoming one of the premier schools in our nation. We have produced some very successful people in some very influential fields such as medicine, law, engineering, education, and many others. I look forward to helping shape the next generation of these outstanding citizens.
