When you think about the prom, a million different things come to mind; some must find dates; there is shopping to do; nails to be done; hair to be fixed; corsages to be bought, and lots of planning to be done. But, do you ever wonder what some of our teachers did for their proms? We asked several teachers around AHS.
Mrs. Strickland
What year(s) did you go to the prom?
“I went in 1976; that was my junior year, and in 1977; that was my senior year.”
What school did you attend?
“Conway High”
What was the theme of your prom?
“We didn’t really have themes; we just rented the place and that’s where all the money went.”
What did you wear to the prom? (What did it look like)
“For my junior year I wore a white, lace dress with pink accents. And, for my senior year, I wore orange.”
Did you enjoy your prom?
“I enjoyed every bit, stayed until the very end.”
Where were all of your proms held, or located?
“It was located at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, both my junior and senior years.”
Mrs. Lewis
What year did you go to the prom?
“I went in 1984; that was my sophomore year, and in 1985, my junior year. Now, that’s when I went to Aiken. And, I went to Aynor’s prom my senior year in 1986.”
What was the theme of your proms?
“I know my junior year because I was on prom committee, and it was called ‘The Lights of Heaven’.”
What did you wear to the prom? (What did it look like)
“My sophomore year I wore a long, pink, LaFata gown with a huge rose on the left hip. My junior year I wore a really pretty white gown with white sleeves and pink ribbons, somewhere. My senior year was hysterical; it was sea-foam green with a metallic look, and it looked like Reynolds wrap and aluminum foil; it was hysterical.”
Did you enjoy your prom?
“Oh yeah girl, I had a ball.”
