New Movies Coming Out This Friday: Obsessed and The Soloist

Everyone has heard about the movies Obsessed and The Soloist, and most of you are probably going to go and see one or both of them. Here is a little background about the movies before you go see them.

The Soloist

The Soloist is a story about a brilliant man, Nathaniel Ayers, played by Jamie Foxx, who is musically talented, but ends up homeless living on Skid Row, and is just a little down on his luck. He has nothing except a grocery cart full of his things and his violin, which only has two strings, and a dream of playing at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.  Steve Lopez, played by Robert Downey,  is having difficulty finding a story to write about for his job on the newspaper. If he does not find a good story to write about, he along with other journalist, will be laid off from work due to falling ratings.  Steve runs into Nathaniel beautifully playing the violin. Although his violin has only two strings, he still manages to playmiraculously.  Lopez and Ayers form a friendship, and Lopez is determined to help this man get his dream.

Obsessed

            Derek Charles, played by Idris Elba, is a hard-working,  successful asset manager who is living the good life with his pretty  wife, Sharon, played by Beyonce Knowles and a son. However, things are about to take a turn for the worst. A woman  named Lisa Sheridan, played by Ali Larter, applies for a job as Derek’s assistant, and all things go down from there. As Lisa drives a wedge between Derek and Sharon’s marriage, things get pretty tense. Will Sharon retake what is rightfully hers, or will Lisa be successful?

Both these movies come out in theaters everywhere Friday, April 24, 2009.
