Let Him/Her Down Easy

One of the biggest deals about prom is who you will be  taking as your date.  You may have your heart set on that one special someone but they just haven’t asked you yet, or maybe you haven’t asked them.  But, what if someone else asks you to prom and you don’t want to go with them?  Here’s how to say ” no thanks” without hurting their feelings, and feeling good about yourself.

1. In the beginning, dont lead the person to beleive you may be interested

2.  Be polite, and smile

3.  Get to the point quickly

4. Tell them something like ” I appreciate it and all, but that your feelings aren’t the same.”

5. Dont say you want to be friends if you have no intentions of being friendly.

6.Make it as painless as possible by being direct and NOT saying something like, ‘if things were different.

7.Don’t over explain or make excuses — you are not interested, plain and simple.

You may think that being blunt is mean, but it is actually better than leading someone to believe they have a chance with you when they don’t.  Don’t drag them around.  This wont be easy….but easier if you follow these rules.  Now, that special someone can be your prom date, and have that spectacular night you have always wanted.
