Boys V.S. Girls

For many years, there has been a heated conflict on whether girls or guys are better in sports, academics, or just average everyday actions. I decided that I will go ask a few AHS students what they think about this. Let’s hope everyone will be mature about this HEATED conflict!
In academics, pheew, I think it’s not the gender; it’s the brain that you were given. A girl is not necessarily smarter than a guy, and a guy is not necessarily smarter than a girl. It can be either way depending on the girl and the guy. So, I asked several students ”Are girls or guys better in academics?” Matt Sellers believes “Guys because I think I’m the smartest person on earth, and I’m a guy.” Funny, Matt, I was hoping for something different. Let’s try the next person… JP Valentine states “Gender has nothing to do with it. Perception on life and dedication to schoolwork has everything to do with it.” Thank you, JP, that’s exactly the answer I was looking for. I absolutly agree: sexism and thinking that one gender is better than the next is BAD! I should ask one more student… Jared Altman explains ” Girls are definitely smarter than guys.” Well, Jared, I’m a girl, and there are guys out there smarter than me, so I must disagree.
The next question would be are girls or guys better in sports? I must say that there are girls who can beat guys in sports, and there are guys who can beat girls in sports. Again, it’s NOT a matter of gender; it’s a matter of being fit to play sports. Let’s ask Cristina Talmaege what she thinks about this question…”Girls because we are definitely better at everything!” As much as I wish I could agree with you, I can’t because that definitely is not true. NEXT! Justin Jones declares “Guys, they are made to be physically fit, but some choose to sit in their houses and be overweight.” That’s not the answer I was looking for either. I was hoping for a non-sexist answer, but I guess I’m not going to get the answer I want. I believe that it depends on the athletic ability not the gender as far as I’m concerned!
Now, for everything else the cooking, cleaning, jobs, etc. a woman nor a man is specifcally good at anything. It really does depend on the person and their capabilities. Here are the students’ answers… “Boys because girls talk a lot of crap and start a lot of drama. Also because boys can talk to each other and be trusted with information they get, but some girls can’t be trusted!” (submitted anonymously) I can agree with that, but I also think sometimes guys can’t be trusted either, not sticking up for girls because we are pretty bad with that stuff! “We are both equal, we behave a certain way, but one is not better than the other. Although girls have it harder.” (another one submitted anonymously) I agree one is not better than the other, and physically, sometimes girls do have it harder. No one can disagree with that completely. No sex is better than the other; we are all EQUAL! Shane Allen states “Personally, it is a matter of situation. Guys are argued to be better in physical activites such as sports and other strenous activities while girls are argued to be superior in the fields of hands-on-activities. The question of which gender is superior is not only a matter of choice and opinon, but also situation. There is no such thing as a better gender in the broad spectrum of life. Each gender has its pros and cons, and unless someone proves this wrong, it is possibly the best unbiased reply to date.” I have no comment; I think I’ve already made my point.
So, in my opinon, it’s not the gender; it’s the capability of the person and his/her skill in whatever is being done. It’s not a matter of what gender; it’s a matter of the person inside NOT outside, or at least that’s what I believe.
