Abusive Relationships

Recently in the news there has been a conflict with Chris Brown and Rihanna. Unfortunately, Rihanna has been abused by her boyfriend, Chris Brown. Rihanna is recovering from contusions, a black-eye, and bruising. Chris Brown presents himself as a role model for young men and has probably ruined his reputation. Even though he apologized, he should still face some consequences. If Rihanna suffered abuse, so could anyone else.

In fact, one out of three teenagers is in an abusive relationship. Abuse is all around America, and most teens do not want to seek help when they are in this kind of realtionship. Not only women are at risk of being abused, but men are also. A spouse will know that he/she is in an abusive relationship by these signs:

  • A jealous or possessive spouse
  • Blames you when he/she mistreats you
  • Isolates you from friends and family
  • Controls you by being bossy
  • Jokes about you or compares you to other males or females
  • If you have trouble leaving him or her

If you recognize any of these signs in your relationship, please seek help. Either talk to your friends and family, or contact law enforcement.
