The Aynor Golf season is starting again, and expectations are high. With only a few players gone from the region champion and state runner-up team from last year they are looking to improve with a state championship win. The Aynor Golf team finished the 2010 season with a region and lower state title.

So far this year there is only 14 to 15 people on the team and Coach Patrick Wilkinson said that, “the 2011 season is going to be tough because of a lack of team members and there is only a small budget for shirts, hats, gas money, food, etc”.

The 2011 season looks promising because most of the star players are returning. Seniors, Zane Price which is the team’s number one player, Stephan Todd, Kurt Harris, and Ryan Wilkinson. Sophomores include, Johnson Holiday and Chase Johnson, also James Mishoe an 8th grader. Seth Ricketts was the only player lost from last year due to graduation.

This year’s home matches and practice will take place at Burning Ridge Golf Course. The team’s first action will be February 26th at the Patriot Invitional at the Westcott Plantation golf course in Fort Dorchester, SC.
