It was a fight to the finish as Marion, Waccamaw, and Aynor competed for 2A 1st place at the cheerleading competition at Aynor High School on October 10, 2009. The feeling in the air was nothing but tense as these three schools showed the audience why they had practiced three months. The results revealed that Waccamaw and Aynor tied for 2nd place and Marion barely made 1st place with a score of 4 points higher than Waccamaw and Aynor. With a tough week ahead, Aynor will be ready for next week’s competition at Waccamaw and will be ready to come home with the trophy. Here are some statements from the Aynor cheerleaders:
Q: “What did you think about the results last Saturday?”
A: Hannah Grice (Junior)- “I was disappointed but I knew we didn’t do as good as we should have.”
Q: “What do you think we need to work on?”
A: Whiney Peavey (Junior)- “Stunts hitting and jumps.”
Q: “Do you feel confident about the rest of the season?”
A: Noelle Crawford (Senior)- She nodded.
Q: “As an observer, how do you think we did as you were watching us for the first time?”
A: Ashlyn Sarvis (Senior)- “For your first competition, I don’t think y’all did bad. But Marion should not have won.”
